Shirley has been organist at NBUMC since January of 1979. She is a graduate of Geneva College and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned degrees in mathematics. She was a teacher of mathematics in the Riverside Beaver County School District for 11 years before retiring to raise her family. Shirley began her organ work at the age of twelve as the organist for the North Sewickley United Presbyterian Church. She has studied organ under Phil Inman of Geneva College and has taken organ classes at Duquesne University and Olmstead Manor. While participating in a John Wesley Heritage Tour in England, Shirley had the honor of playing the 250 year old pipe organ in John Wesley's "New Room" Chapel in Bristol, England.
